NLP and anchoring: installing your focus buttonProtocol17 minModule lesson
The circle of excellence and anchor chains
Two advanced techniques: a spatial anchor for the big occasions, and a chain for moving from a negative state to the target one.
The circle of excellence
This is a spatial anchor: instead of a gesture, a physical location triggers the state. Powerful for high-stakes situations: public speaking, an exam, a negotiation, competition.
Protocol
- Standing, picture a circle on the floor in front of you, one step away. Give it a specific colour and a luminous texture. Some people add a sound.
- Outside the circle, call up the resource state, concentration, calm or assurance, and amplify it as before.
- At the peak of the state, physically step into the circle. The step is the anchor.
- Stay in it for ten seconds, letting the state saturate the body. Then step out and let the state fall away.
- Repeat five times, with different resource states: concentration, confidence, calm, energy. The circle becomes a composite.
- Finally, fold the circle up: picture shrinking it and slipping it into your pocket. You will be able to unfold it anywhere.
