Preloading: preparing the brain before reading
The five minutes of preparation that double speed and retention on a professional book.
The principle
Reading a text with no preparation is like exploring a city with no map. You make progress, but you do not know what matters.
Preloading builds a mental receiving structure. Every piece of information you then read finds a place instead of floating. This is the advance organiser principle described by David Ausubel, one of the most solid results in the psychology of learning.
The five-step protocol
1. The objective, thirty seconds
Write in one sentence why you are reading this book, and what you want to be able to do afterwards.
Understand how to structure a training offer so I can redo my sales page.
With no written objective, you will read everything at the same intensity, which means badly.
