The image factory: turning the abstract into the concrete
The five conversion rules for turning an abstract word into an image in under three seconds.
The problem with abstract words
Liberty, amortisation, photosynthesis, jurisprudence. No image comes to mind on its own. That is normal: these are concepts, not objects.
Here are the five conversion techniques. They work on very nearly every word in the English language.
1. The symbol
You replace the concept with an object that culturally stands for it.
Liberty becomes the Statue of Liberty. Justice becomes the scales. Danger becomes a skull and crossbones. Peace becomes a dove.
Fast and effective, but limited to concepts that have a shared symbol.
