Charisma broken down: presence, power, warmth
Charisma is not a gift: it is the combination of three observable, trainable behaviours.
Charisma is a behaviour, not a trait
That is the starting point of this lesson. What people call charisma breaks down into three observable signals, and each of them can be worked on separately.
Presence: genuinely being there, with the other person. Power: giving the sense that you can act on the world. Warmth: giving the sense that you have good intentions towards the other person.
Charisma appears when all three are present at the same time. An imbalance produces a precise effect, always the same one.
Power without warmth: you are intimidating, and people avoid you. Warmth without power: you are likeable but not very credible. Presence without the other two: you are pleasant and forgettable.
